I used to work on coal, gas and nuclear power stations when I lived in England, so the electricity that used to charge and light up our lives I helped make. This was a big part of deciding to do engineering and working in engineering for me. I wanted to work on something that made a difference to peoples’ lives.

In the space industry, things take a very long time to make. So nothing I’ve made is up there (yet!). Space technology in general is something we use daily without even thinking about. I’m sure you’ve seen weather forecasts… meteorologists use satellites to monitor and predict what the weather is going to do. How about GPS? Things like Google maps use satellites to estimate your position on the Earth, which you can use for navigation. And TV uses satellites to transmit pictures/sound to the screen in your home.
