Question: is there a way to engineer to event an easier way to breathe under water

That’s a good question! I have often wondered if they could compress gas even more than they do and use another valve to release the breathing air…. those tanks are heavy! The problem is the pressure at huge depths which the human body is not designed to withstand. The emphasis these days is to look at remotely operated vehicles to carry out necessary work to minimize the risk of barotrauma.
