• Question: if you didn't pick the career path your in right now do you think you would have as much knowledge and as much fun as your having being an engineer?

      Hello Hannah!
That is a really difficult question and there are so many other ways my life could have turned out depending on different choices or changes in luck.
Every step I have taken in my life has been influenced by previous ones so if any one was different my life could be really different now. I hope that in all those circumstances everything would be at least as fun but I really do not know.
For example I am only working in CERN now because my neighbour in Oxford wanted to apply to work at CERN and asked me to apply too so that we could move to Switzerland together. Otherwise I would have never thought about it. And I was only living in Oxford because my old boss sent me on a course where I met a lead engineer working in Oxford who said, ‘Hey, please come work here with us!”
So life is really a collection of these small critical turning points.
Good luck with your choices! Everything happens to take us to our next destination for better or worse. 🙂
